Back on the blog

It has been too long since I last wrote. Only 4 posts for March, that is like the lowest number for a month yet.

Its not like there hasnt been anything happening, I have just been a little e-lazy.

Last weekend was Easter and we made the long haul up to QLD to Madonnas folks for the 4 day weekend. It is a fair ways to go for only a few days, but it was nice to be up there. We went as far as Tamworth on the Thursday night, about 3.5 hours drive, and the next day went the rest of the way, about another 5.5 on the road. The dog came with us and was generally very well behaved. He is a pretty good traveller. When we stopped in Tamworth he found some pretty serious burrs that buried themselves well into his coat. We had to cut them out in the end so he has a good few baldy patches on his front.

We did the 9 hour haul back in one day on the Monday, that is a pretty serious drive. Wont be doing that one again in a hurry.

During the trip back we got word from Ireland that we had a new nephew. Cian Jacob Mullins McGillion is his name, and all is well. Rett had a 3 hour labour this time, which kicks the 41 hours she had with Liam the first time around. Congrats to Rett and Dave, and to Us!!! We are very pround new uncs and aunts.

The week went pretty quick, and now this weekend is pretty much over. This was our first weekend at home without any plans or triathlons or trips or something on for about a month and a half, so it was good to just sit. We still ended up having a few sets of visitors, with Madonnas sister Maria and her boyf Vince on Saturday, and my folks and Fran, Todd, Iwan and Jamie around today.

That is about it. Nothing that interesting, but not totally boring.... Just life.....

Until next time, be well and enjoy yourselves. Thank you and goodnight.

Triathlon 2

Yesterday was my second ever triathlon. It may be the last, we will see. It is certainly the last one this year.

It was a great day out, there were about 50 people from work competing, mostly in teams doing a leg each. In my team the guy doing the swim leg was definitely the weakest link. Me. Me and swimming are like electing George Bush. It obviously seemed like a good idea to someone at some point in time. The reality however is somewhat different.

It took me ages to get right again after the swim, I felt like chucking for most of the bike leg, but eventually came good. Somehow, despite a serious training defecit I was still able to finish. A couple of photos are below.

No-one else in sight.

Tomorrows headline - "Competitor 466 runs down little girl in triathlon shame"

I am running so fast it looks like the people around me are standing still

Rolling out the blue carpet for yours truly. That girl really wants to beat me, but I smashed her. Dont tell anyone, but she started about 5 mins after me.

Anyhoo, there isnt heaps more to tell at this stage. I am compiling a nice little set of photos of where we live, it will give you a nice idea of the interesting contrast that exists nearby.

Puppy has a sore foot, not quite sure what is wrong with him. If it continues we might go for a bit of a vet visit tomorrow arvo. That is all for now. Bring on the long weekend.

Happy Paddys to you Irish folk.

Posting from work

I am at work. It is lunch time. Feeling a little off.

Last night our company had a client cocktail function, which involved plenty of drink availability but limited food availability. Fun combination. I ended up at home at about 9pm after a hair raising ride home on my bike, and then fell asleep on the floor on top of the dog. He didnt seem to mind so much. Today hasnt been much fun, cant think for this stupid headache. I hope our clients had a good night, mine was pretty darn tootin.

Last weekend we were away from Newcastle again, down in Sydney so Donny could go to her pilates instructors training course. It turned out to be a pretty hectic couple of days driving around the place seeing different folks. Having the dog with us complicated things a bit, but he was on his best behaviour most of the weekend and he got to sniff a few different doggy crotches here and there. Easy to please.

This weekend we will be staying put, no road trips. However, I am going in another triathlon. Unfortunately most of my training has been along the lines of last nights cocktail party, a bit of a train wreck. I will just get an early night, eat a crapload of pasta the day before, and bananas on the day, and hope for the best. It will be nice to have a day at home on the Saturday and do a few desperately needed chores about the house.

We still have that crazy pigeon who comes to sleep and crap on our back porch. I have tried catching him a few times by hand but he is a deceptively slipperly little bugger and has gotten away each time. I dont want to grab him too hard for fear of breaking one of those little birdy bones, I would kind of feel bad about that given that he so obviously has other issues in his life. Will try again soon, I am getting sick of hosing off the back porch.

Not much else to say. Sorry it has been a while between posts, we have been a bit busy. Will put a few photos up soon when I have a bit more time. Later skaters.

A trip to our nations capital

On the weekend just gone Madonna and I dropped off our little furry friend to the kennel and headed off on a road trip down to our nations capital....... CANBERRA. The one and only. And the experience was truly capital, just capital.

It was about a 5 hour drive down on the Saturday and it was excellent to be there a bit earlier than we had originally planned and to bust Tamara and Lucy polishing off a sneaky afternoon bottle of white.

The purpose of the visit was a catch up session with Lucy, Tamara and Luke, and Shan, Andy and their bub Jarah. Mission successful.

We had a great evening around at Shan and Andys place and then met up for brunch again the following morning before Donny and I hit the road back up to Newcs. Only 4 1/2 hours to get back, not bad really. Thank you M7 motorway.

We got back to find that our puppy friend didnt really have the greatest of fun at the kennel, he was a wee bit anxious. He is still a little traumatised, but was very happy to see us.

Anyway, photos beeelow.
