Monday night in Ballinacurra

I found out that the hurling team of one of the guys from work was playing a match just down the road at the Ballinacurra GAA pitch on Monday night, so I dragged Dave along with me to go and watch the match. There turned out to be a reasonable crowd there for a local junior match, and despite the forecast the weather was really nice. The teams were Russel Rovers (black and yellow) vs Erins Own. The guy from work plays for Russel Rovers.

The pitch was about a half mile walk outside Ballinacurra up on top of a hill, and there were lovely views in almost every direction. We walked down, but this would be just three minutes drive from where we are living at Dave and Rett's place. If there was no action in the match it was just as enjoyable to turn around and just soak up the view in the other direction.

The match was ok, but unfortunately Russell Rovers lost. On the way home we managed to fit in a quick pint at Jacko's, which is a little pub about 5 mins walk away that serves the smoothest pint of Heineken you will ever find.

The following are photos from the match and of the scenery around the ground.
