We made it safely out of Italy, a little frazzled but in one piece. I have to say, I dont like Italy. It is most certainly old, and to a certain extent that does make it interesting. In parts it is beautiful, but certainly no more than any of the other countries that we have been to. But for me, all of the crap that goes along with it pretty much rule it out for me as a place worth visiting. It is just a victim of its own popularity in so many ways, and has been the only downer for me in an otherwise brilliant trip so far. It is a shame we have to go back, but Venice calls. I can see it being just as big of a pain in the hole.
(DISCLAIMER This is my opinion only and Madonna will kick my butt when she reads this)
We are now in Croatia, which is an absolutely brilliant place. It is so beautiful and quaint an the water is so clear and an excellent shade of blue. It is amazing to think it was in a war not s long ago.
We caught the ferry to Dubrovnik and stayed there for a few days. The weather wasnt the best, but it didnt rain too much during the day at least. We then caught the ferry to Korcela, which is where we are now. The weather all day yesterday was absolutely fantastic, and travelling by ferry is really relaxing, sprawled out on the deck in the sunshine for a few hours. When we stopped at a port half way the crew were even fishing for their lunch over the side of the boat, with amazing success.
In about an hour and a half we are off to Hvar, and then to Split either the next day or the day after. After that we will drive as far towards Slovenia as we can manage in the day. Probably 1 or 2 nights there.
Alrighty, that is all of the travel talk. Thanks to those that have emailed, and good luck to Ireland today against the Argentines. You will need it. I am looing forward to the Aussies putting some hurt on England in the quarter final. (Fingers crossed)
See youse later.
