Obscene

That is the way that I would describe some of the amounts of money on display along the French Riviera.

Since we left Spain we spent a few nights in France travelling around the southern coast and into Italy. At my prompting we took a slight nerds detour and went up to Millau to see the Millau Viaduct, which I believe is the tallest bridge in the world. It was pretty cool, nice area too, but probably not worth the couple of hundred kms extra to drive.

We went around the coast further and spent 2 nights near St Tropez, which is a gorgeous area. I can see why the famous people all go there, the town itself was very nice and this was really the beginning of the obscenity. The boats parked all along the marina there were just something else and all had their little boat man whose job it was to wash the boat in front of everyone so that it shone just a little bit more than their rich next door neighbor. Hey, if everyone knows the famous people are going to be in St Tropez, and they all go there to "get away" then how does that work?

From there we went around through Cannes and into Monaco. We had lunch in Monte Carlo and walked around looking at stuff. Expensive stuff. The cars driving around that place were just insane, and the boats parked there... Nuts. It is funny that with all of those sports cars that the roads are so windy, although when we got back on the motorway we had a few dickheads drive past at insane speed, that must be where they open it up a bit.

Next stop, Italy, which is where we are now. We went to the Cinqe Terre yesterday which was really pretty, and today we are just outside of Florence. Heading in there tomorrow.

Italians think they can drive much better than they actually can. There must be some kind of Ferrari gene mixed in there somewhere. Most of them know that everyone else is going to be driving crazy and do the same themselves and that must be the way the system works. So driving sensibly is out the window for the next week or so. Actually, getting tailgated by a Ferrari or a Porsche or BMW or such I dont mind so much because I guess that is what you buy that type of car specifically to do, it is the prick in his Punto driving up your backside and taking the racing line through corners that pisses me off. Mate, it is a Punto.

Florence is quite green and that means rain. Hopefully we miss out. It has been a month or so since we saw rain which has been excellent.

One month to go till we are back in Cork, and then shortly after to Africa, and then home. It will be nice to be home...

Aussies are doing pretty well in the world cup which is great, hopefully they can whip england in the quarter the was SA kicked them about the other day.

What is up with Ireland? When that Georgean guy got that intercept try all I could do was laugh, because I was in public and crying if you are a man watching the rugby is only acceptable if you have won the whole damn thing.

They will come good, but maybe only in time for next years 6 nations.

OK, time to go. Thanks to the RPS lads for your emails, I will reply to all of you in time. Alan, I am happy that Liverpool are going well, they are doing it just for you you know. I asked them to, and they said "OK".

Until next time....
